Dining Room Manager

Davenport Country Club is seeking an energetic, service-oriented Dining Room Manager to join our hospitality team. As one of the premier private country clubs in the Midwest, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional dining experiences and personalized service to our members and guests.

This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our dining venues, including fine dining, casual dining, pool dining, and bar operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys building relationships with both members and staff.

As our Dining Room Manager, you will:

Deliver Exceptional Member Service

  • Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member requests, concerns, and special accommodations.
  • Ensure every dining experience exceeds expectations.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with members and learn their preferences.
  • Assist in planning and executing club events, wine dinners, themed evenings, and private functions.

Help create memorable experiences that encourage member participation and satisfaction. Lead and Develop Our Team

  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and supervise front-of-house staff, including servers, bartenders, hosts, and on-course food & beverage attendants.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising pool servers and pool server supervisors.
  • Develop staff schedules to ensure proper coverage.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture through coaching, communication, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and ongoing training.

Oversee Dining and Beverage Operations

  • Manage daily operations across multiple dining venues.
  • Ensure dining rooms are clean, organized, and presentation-ready.
  • Coordinate reservations, walk-in traffic, and seating.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to ensure timely and accurate food and beverage service.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of menus, wines, cocktails, and seasonal features.
  • Monitor beverage inventory and assist with cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with responsible alcohol service standards.

Maintain Quality Standards

  • Monitor food presentation, beverage quality, and service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting dining environment.

Support Financial Success

  • Assist with budgeting and financial planning.
  • Monitor labor costs, inventory, and departmental expenses.
  • Partner with club leadership on pricing strategies and cost-control initiatives.

Communication & Marketing

  • Assist in promoting club events through email communications, push notifications, newsletters, and social media.
  • Support club-wide initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a restaurant, private club, hotel, or upscale dining environment.
  • Outstanding leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and member service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and current dining trends.
  • Experience with POS systems and restaurant management software.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education

A bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent leadership experience in hospitality will be considered.
